‘Green Habitation’ is about how to construct a place of your own in these hard economic times (as I do the same), as well as exploring alternatives to a life unconnected to our source of food, the construction of our domains, and the power that we receive from nature. Please take what you will from this site and all contributions are welcome. Thank you.

Hey Patrick!
Sheri May here. Suzanne gave me the link to your blog and it’s fascinating. We’ve subscribed.
We are still in GSO and actually live right behind Claxton Elementary, but my husband is an avid outdoorsman (hunts just about anything we can eat although I forbid squirrels and the like) and is a gifted gardener. So we have a wonderful garden in our yard as well as four fabulous chickens whom I adore.
We’d love to buy some real property, but in order to have enough for hunting, etc.. we’d have to move way out – which is a problem with teenagers. My oldest starts high school next year and wants to stay with his buddies, which is understandable, and then the middle one will be starting, so we figure we can’t move out for another 12 to 15 years, although our youngest (who is six) wants goats something terrible.
Can’t wait to read more on here. Am afraid if my husband reads this he’ll head your way and never come back.
Take care!
Sheri
Thanks Sheri May!
It’s all been quite an enjoyable experiment for me so far. I think it’s great that you guys are raising chickens (and so close to town). I would love to know what breeds you are raising and how that experience has been (feel free to post here).
Goats are fantastic but I would not recommend them for anyone without a really good fence (at least 4′) and landscape within that fence that they don’t want eaten.
Great to hear from you and please keep in touch with any chicken-raising, hunting and especially gardening insights!
Patrick
